At Shima Kizuna, every product is rooted in Okinawa’s deep connection to nature and traditional herbal wisdom. Below are some of the key ingredients we use, and why they’ve been cherished for generations.

 

🌿 Chomeisou (長命草 / Peucedanum Japonicum)

Known as the “longevity herb,” chomeisou is a coastal plant rich in polyphenols. Traditionally used to support vitality, immune function, and circulation.

 

🌱 Shell Ginger (月桃 / Gettō)

An aromatic plant used in both Okinawan cuisine and herbal remedies. Its leaves and seeds are known for antioxidant and anti-aging properties.

 

🍋 Shikuwasa (シークヮーサー)

A native citrus fruit prized for its tart flavor and high nobiletin content — a polyphenol linked to metabolism and fatigue recovery.

 

💛 Ukon (ウコン / Turmeric)

Okinawan turmeric varieties like spring ukon and kogane ukon are widely used for liver support, detox, and digestion.

 

🍃 Hatomugi (ハトムギ / Job’s Tears)


Used for centuries in East Asia for promoting clear skin, hydration, and gentle detox. Found in both teas and supplements.
